We received a funny little story yesterday evening from Matt, another truly lekker customer:
I ordered 4 bags of jerky and was quite happily munching away one night when my Dad came and said “What is that your eating ?” I replied “Jerky want to try a bit ?”. So he grabbed a piece, tried it and left. The next day I went to open the last bag to find it gone! Dad then came home from work and said “Not bad that jerky stuff, was that the last bag? … Well let us know when you get some more will ya”.

Peter and I are slaving away yet again for another 300kg’s biltong ! The temperature in here is a barmy 41.8 degrees with a 72% humidity. Reminds us of Sabi Sabi in the Eastern Transvaal. We just don’t have the bitterly cold castles !

Okay, it's hard to categorically prove. But we've got a shiny trophy that says our Biltong is Lekker. That's South African for great. And that's where we are from - South Africa - the home of Biltong. Although, as you've probably guessed, The Chichester Biltong Company is based in the UK, on an organic farm no less.
Our Biltong is made using a secret recipe, handed down through generations. Our Organic and Finest Biltong are made without using any nitrates or nitrites, e numbers, gluten or sugar. Pure British, local grass fed beef from closed herds. Only the very best beef we can buy. The ingredient list is simple; salt, pepper, nutmeg, chilli, garlic, coriander, ground cloves and distilled vinegar. THAT’S IT!*
*Our main Biltong range does contain sodium nitrate, but at less that 1 gram per 1000g of Biltong, it is “AS LOW AS WE CAN GO”! Sodium Nitrate is also found naturally occurring in many herbs and spices and food stuffs! This helps keep the biltong fresher for longer.
