Gift a cow

Simon Smith - Friday, December 11, 2015

A gift that keeps giving beyond Christmas

Here at the Chichester Biltong Company to get in that Christmas spirit we decided that we wanted to send some Christmas and New Year joy. We thought there is no better way to spread the love and joy then giving to those in need, and we also thought we should save some cows in the process.

We are setting up a fundraiser via Just Giving, and with the help of Present Aid (Partners of Christian Aid). ALL proceeds will be going to the Present Aid fund where we shall be buying cows to send to less developed countries.

Gifts such as a cow not only provide families with milk but also give them  a source of income, which will help build a bigger and brighter future for generations to come.

Our goal is to buy a herd of cows so they can make less fortunate families lead happier, more prosperous lives. We want to be able to make a difference. Plus, after all the biltong we have made, we thought it best to rescue a few cows.

How can you help?

There are two different ways in which you can donate.

You can donate via our Specials page, where you will be able to add ‘Gift a cow’ to your basket; you can donate anything from 25p to the cost of an entire cow for £150.00.

Or, you can go to JustGiving/thechichesterbiltongcompany where you will be able to donate, as little or as much as you like. The advantage of using JustGiving allows for Gift Aid to be added towards your donation at no extra cost to you (Gift Aid means charities can claim an extra 25p from the government for every £1 you give. It won’t cost you any extra).

Please note donations made via our website will be calculated on a fortnightly basis and paid to JustGiving via The Chichester Biltong Company.

Some frequently asked questions answered by Present Aid.

Is providing livestock the best way to help people?

Many of the people at Present Aid have a history of keeping livestock and it is part of their culture. The projects that Present Aid support are run by local partner organisations that assess the most suitable ways to help.

How are the animals cared for?

Owning livestock is a means of providing a living for many people in the developing world. Consequently, making sure the animal is well cared for is a priority for people who own them. The recipients of livestock receive training in animal husbandry and local veterinary care is usually available. It is quite common for the animal to enjoy a better quality of life than its owner.

Here at The Chichester Biltong Company we shall be rounding up all of your lovely donations each month to make sure we can gift a whole cow, even if that is just £1 we will add £149.00 to the fund call it ROUNDING A COW.
